„HOPE EDEN E.V.“ IN GERMANY

On the basis of long-standing personal relationships and friendships with Annegret and Shiekar Kumbur, we founded the non-profit association “Hope Eden e.V.” based in Weinsberg together with other friends in 2006. As Christians, we want to make an active contribution to local development aid and support the work of the Hope Eden community financially and ideally.

Our main focus is on the operation of the primary school, which currently offers more than 200 children from the predominantly underprivileged rural population in the area surrounding Hope Eden the chance of a basic education. With a current financial outlay of around € 4,500 per month, we as an association finance the day-to-day running of the school and the salaries of the local teachers and school staff. In addition, we initiate further, self-contained projects such as the renewal of the school’s solar system.

The expansion of the school by a further three classes to become a junior secondary school has been completed. This means that Hope-Eden Community School can now also offer a secondary school leaving certificate. The first pupils for the Junior Secondary School were accepted in 2021 and were able to celebrate their graduation in mid-2024.

Through sponsorships, we enable young people to receive a better education and support them financially beyond primary school with the costs of secondary school and tuition fees.

We are also involved in supporting individual projects and people in the immediate vicinity of Hope Eden. For example, we helped to build a house for a widow in Kuje who, in addition to her own children, is also committed to providing a home for orphans.

We see this type of support as a preventative measure, especially for the younger generation in Nigeria. With education, they have a perspective for independent action in their own country. We are grateful that so many helpful donors stand behind us and are also committed to this cause.
